Starry Night

Starry Night by Vincent Van gogh, he panted Starry Night while in an Asylum at Saint-Remy in 1889. Starry Night is peak of his achievements. He only sold one painting in his life; Starry Night is one of the most well-known paintings in modern culture. I love this painting because of its color China blue and bright yellow. The night sky filled with swirling clouds, stars and moon bright as sun. This is a scene we can all relate to it make me feel comfortable. Also this is so fairy tales image; viewers will keep their eyes on the sky with those stars.

Furthermore, there have a small town which leis on the horizon which make a peaceful essence, and also the cool dark colors of fiery windows sparks memories of our own warm childhood years filled with imagination of what exists in the night and dark starry skies. Also there have a tall steeple church, and same small building is just creates a sense of size and seclusion. On the left hand side the massive dark may develops sense of isolation. Overall, this panting is formation of wide and full of variety.

Van Gogh love to use bright colors on his paintings, in his panting stars just as bright as sun, we also can see those bright stars in Starry Night over the Rhone and Café Terrace at Night. I had never see stars bright as this in real life, maybe this just only exist in Van Gogh’s imagination. I was wonder that why he painted stars so bright, and I think that is just van Gogh’s painting style. But now I realize, in our life that have so many unhappy and dark side, they swallow brightness and leave people at darkness without any hope, but Starry Night can give people hope and courage, I think this is the messages that Van Gogh try to tell us through the stars.
